indexEmployee assistance and supported employment professionals have an opportunity to play an important role in the employment and other support of our nation’s veterans. A key aspect of support will often be referral for information and services regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs:   http://www.va.gov.

It is helpful to know that the VA consists of three different administrations:

* The Veterans Benefits Administration      http://www.benefits.va.gov/benefits

The VBA oversees compensation, education, home loan guaranty, and many other benefits.

* The Veterans Health Administration     http://www.va.gov/health

The VHA provides physical and mental health care services at over 1,700 sites, including VA Medical Centers (hospitals), ambulatory care clinics, and community-based outpatient clinics.

* The National Cemetery Administration     http://www.cem.va.gov

The NCA offers national and state veterans cemeteries and offers burial benefits, headstones, markers, and Presidential Memorial Certificates for those who qualify.

Professionals can get an overview of benefits and services at http://www.va.gov/opa/newtova.asp
